The unexpected project

Demo Video

Presentation video for demonstrating VR Exhibition

This video was created for a presentation in the 2020 September Library Forum to demonstrate the Southwest Virginia Digital Archive virtual reality (SDVA VR) exhibition to library colleagues.

The storyboard started with a high-angle 360º shot around the plain exhibit floor plan with building elements and assets gradually added as the shot revolving the subject to give the behind the scene perspective. A few point-of-view shots on editing and maneuver of exhibition assets were added in between for a better view of the detailed workflows. Partial OST was mixed on the video as the soundtrack. The video transition to point of view shot with wave sound (the same background in the exhibition) as an indicator that we are moving into touring the exhibit.

The whole video was screen-recorded using Quicktime in multiple angles to engage the audience. It is designed to show audiences the process of constructing a VR exhibit while not exposing too many pictures to trigger the audience to explore the exhibition. Post-production processes are done in Premiere Pro, which includes video editing, sound effects, and visual effects. Timed captions were added to the prerecorded video to ensure it syncs with the presenter during the presentation.

PR Video

Promotional video for social media

This video clip was deliberately designed to be as short as 22 seconds to fit the instant gratification culture, and the audio was tuned up by 15.0dB to better fit Story volume in social media. The original shot was taken from the video above and cut to the current length.

Another version of the video without sound was created with a static banner with the exhibition URL link at the bottom of video for digital signage in different venues.

Be aware of this clip’s high volume!
